How to Play Pong in 3 Steps

Pick a mode

Play against the computer (Easy, Normal or Hard in the options) or switch to 2 Players to share one keyboard or touchscreen.

Serve and rally

Press Space or tap Play. Move with ↑ ↓ or W S, or drag on the board. Hit the ball with the paddle's edge to send it off at a sharper angle.

3

First to 7 wins

The ball speeds up with every hit. Change the target to 5 or 11 in the options; your wins and best margin are kept on this device only.

Pong — Frequently Asked Questions

What are the controls?

Player 1 uses W/S or the arrow keys; in two-player mode Player 2 uses the arrow keys. Space serves and pauses, Esc resets. On touch screens drag anywhere on the board — in two-player mode each player drags on their own half.

Can two people play on one phone?

Yes. Choose 2 Players, turn the phone sideways, and each player controls the paddle on their side by dragging on their half of the board. Multi-touch is supported.

Is the computer beatable?

Yes. The computer tracks the ball with a reaction delay and a top speed that depend on the difficulty: Easy is slow and late, Hard is fast but still fallible. The ball also speeds up a little on every hit, so long rallies favour sharp angles off the paddle edges.

Where are my scores saved?

Only in your browser's localStorage, under the key toolity_pong: games won per mode and your best winning margin. Nothing is sent anywhere; clearing site data removes it.

Why does the game pause by itself?

Pong pauses automatically when the tab or window loses focus so you never lose a point while switching apps. Press Space or tap Play to continue.
