FAQ

QR Code Generator — Frequently Asked Questions

Is the content of my QR code sent to a server?

No. The QR matrix is computed and drawn entirely in your browser with a small JavaScript encoder. Wi-Fi passwords, contact details and links never leave your device, and the page works offline once loaded.

Which error-correction level should I choose?

L (7 %) gives the smallest code; M (15 %) is the everyday default; Q (25 %) and H (30 %) survive more damage and are required when you place a logo in the centre, since the logo covers part of the pattern. The tool switches to H automatically when you add a logo.

Why won't my QR code scan after I changed the colours?

Scanners need strong contrast and a dark pattern on a light background. Keep the foreground dark and the background light (or transparent on a light surface), and don't shrink the quiet-zone margin below the default — many camera apps fail on tight margins.

PNG, SVG, WebP or JPEG — which should I download?

SVG is a vector file that stays crisp at any size and is ideal for print. PNG is the safe choice for screens and documents; WebP is smaller for web pages; JPEG is lossy and can't be transparent, so use it only if a platform demands it.

How much text fits in a QR code?

Up to about 2,950 bytes at level L or 1,270 at level H, but codes that dense are hard to scan from a phone. Keep URLs short (a link shortener helps) and vCards to the essentials. If the preview shows 'Payload Overflow', shorten the content or lower the error-correction level.

Can I generate Wi-Fi codes for WPA3 or enterprise networks?

WPA/WPA2/WPA3 personal networks work with the WPA option. Enterprise (802.1X) networks need per-user credentials that the standard Wi-Fi QR format can't express, so they are not supported.
