How to Reverse a Video in 3 Steps
Drop a video
Drag a clip onto the left pane and use the Start/End sliders to select up to 60 seconds — the part you want to run backwards.
Choose a mode
In Settings pick Reverse for a plain backwards clip or Boomerang for forward-then-backward, decide whether to keep the audio (it is reversed too) and pick a resolution.
Reverse and download
Click Reverse video. Frames are captured first, then played back in reverse order while the result is encoded. Download when the badge says Done.
Video Reverser — Frequently Asked Questions
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The clip is decoded by your browser's own video player, redrawn onto a canvas and re-encoded with the MediaRecorder API — all on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
Why is it limited to 60 seconds?
Browsers cannot decode video backwards, so every frame of the selection is captured first and kept in memory as a JPEG (about 1,440 frames at 24 fps for a minute). 60 seconds at 720p stays comfortably within what a laptop or phone can hold. Trim longer videos down first.
Is the audio reversed as well?
Yes, when Audio is set to Reversed the soundtrack is decoded, flipped sample-by-sample and lined up with the reversed frames. Choose Remove if backwards speech sounds odd for your use.
Why is the result 24 fps?
Frames are grabbed by seeking through the clip, which takes 20–50 ms each; 24 fps keeps the capture quick while still looking smooth. Fast-motion clips may show slight stepping compared to the original 60 fps source.
Which format do I get?
MP4 (H.264) in Chrome, Edge and Safari; WebM (VP9/VP8) in Firefox. The output badge shows the container and size. Need another format? Run the result through our Video Converter.
