GIF to Video Converter — Frequently Asked Questions
Is my GIF uploaded anywhere?
No. The GIF is decoded and re-rendered frame by frame on a canvas in your browser, then recorded to video with the built-in MediaRecorder API. Your file never leaves your device.
Why do I get WebM when I chose MP4?
MP4 (H.264) recording depends on your browser. Chrome, Edge and Safari support it; Firefox currently only records WebM. The tool checks what your browser can encode and falls back to WebM so you always get a playable file — the output badge shows the real format.
Why is the recommended loop count 3×?
A GIF is usually just a second or two long, which makes a very short video that is awkward to post. Looping it 3 times gives a comfortable length for social media while keeping the file small. Pick 1× if you need an exact single pass.
Does the converter change the quality of my GIF?
The video is rendered at the GIF's native size unless you pick 720p or 1080p, in which case the frames are upscaled. Video codecs are lossy, so expect slight softening compared with the original pixels — but the file will typically be 5–10× smaller than the GIF.
How long does conversion take?
Recording happens in real time: a 3-second GIF looped 3 times takes about 9 seconds at 1× speed. Choosing 1.5× or 2× playback speed shortens both the video and the wait.
Why does the output have no sound?
GIFs have no audio track, so the video is silent. If you need a soundtrack, add it in a video editor after downloading.
