How It Works

How to Make an OG Image in 3 Steps

1

Write the Title

Type your page title and, optionally, a one-line description and your site name. The title wraps and shrinks automatically so it always fits.

2

Pick a Look

Choose a template, a background swatch or gradient, and drop in your logo or a photo. Turn on the safe-zone guides to keep everything clear of the edges.

3

Download & Add the Meta Tag

Download PNG or JPG, upload it to your site and reference it with <meta property="og:image" content="…">. Switch presets for X or square posts.

FAQ

OG Image Generator — Frequently Asked Questions

What is an OG image?

An Open Graph image is the picture shown when a link is shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack, X and most chat apps. It is declared with the og:image meta tag and the recommended size is 1200 × 630 pixels.

How do I add the image to my site?

Upload the PNG or JPG to your site, then add <meta property="og:image" content="https://yoursite.com/og.png"> inside <head>. Add og:title and og:description too, and use an absolute URL.

PNG or JPG — which should I use?

JPG for images with a photo background (much smaller), PNG for flat colors and crisp text. Both stay under the 8 MB limits of Facebook and X at this size.

What are the safe-zone guides?

Some platforms crop the edges of previews or overlay UI on them. The dashed guides mark a 60 px margin on the preview only — they are never drawn into the downloaded file — so you can keep text and logos clear of the edges.

Is my logo or photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Images are decoded and drawn on a canvas inside your browser, and the result is exported from there. Nothing leaves your device and nothing is stored.
