FAQ

Image Resizer — Frequently Asked Questions

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is decoded and processed on a canvas in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.

Does shrinking lose quality?

Large reductions are done in halving steps with high-quality smoothing, which avoids the jagged, shimmering edges of a single big downscale. Enlarging cannot add detail — it only interpolates.

What happens when the preset has a different shape?

Pick under Settings: Stretch distorts to the exact size, Crop to fill trims the edges to keep proportions, Fit inside keeps everything and pads with transparency (white for JPG).

Is the photo rotated correctly?

Yes — phone photos are turned upright using their EXIF orientation before resizing. EXIF metadata is not copied to the new file.

What is the maximum size?

Up to 16,384 px per side and 50 MB per file. Very large canvases may fail on phones with little memory.
