FAQ

GIF to Images — Frequently Asked Questions

Is my GIF uploaded anywhere?

No. The GIF is decoded frame by frame in your browser and re-encoded on your device with a small open-source encoder. Nothing leaves your computer.

How are the files named?

name-001.png, name-002.png… in playback order, so they sort correctly in any folder or video editor.

Are frames the full picture?

Yes. GIFs often store only the pixels that changed between frames; the tool composes each frame fully before saving, exactly as you see it play.

Can I turn the frames back into a GIF later?

Yes — drop them on our Images to GIF maker. Set the same frame delay to recreate the original speed.

Is there a size limit?

Files up to 50 MB are accepted. Decoding keeps every frame in memory, so very long, high-resolution GIFs (thousands of frames) may be slow on phones — shorten them with the GIF Trimmer first.
