How It Works

How to Trim a Video in 3 Steps

1

Drop a video

Drag an MP4, MOV or WebM onto the left pane. The player loads instantly and the Start/End sliders appear below it.

2

Pick the range

Drag the sliders — the player jumps to each position so you can see the exact frame — or scrub the player and press Playhead to set the start or end where it is paused.

3

Trim and download

Click Trim video. The selection plays once while it is re-encoded, then the result appears on the right ready to download.

FAQ

Video Trimmer — Frequently Asked Questions

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The clip is decoded by your browser's own video player, redrawn onto a canvas and re-encoded with the MediaRecorder API — all on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

How precise is the trim?

The sliders move in 0.1-second steps and the player shows the exact frame at each position. The cut is re-encoded from that frame, so there is no "nearest keyframe" rounding like some lossless cutters have.

Which format do I get?

MP4 (H.264) in Chrome, Edge and Safari; WebM (VP9/VP8) in Firefox. The output badge shows the container and size. Need another format? Run the result through our Video Converter.

Why does it take as long as the clip itself?

Browser encoding happens in real time: the video plays once while every frame is captured, so a 2-minute clip takes about 2 minutes. Keep the tab visible — background tabs pause rendering and would stall the job.

Is there a size or length limit?

Files up to 500 MB are accepted and the output is re-encoded at a sensible bitrate for its resolution (about 2.8 Mbps at 720p, 6 Mbps at 1080p). Very long clips simply take longer because encoding runs in real time.
