Audio Splitter — Frequently Asked Questions
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is decoded by your browser's Web Audio engine, processed on your device and encoded in the page. Nothing is sent to a server.
How does splitting at silences work?
The tool finds stretches quieter than the threshold that last at least the minimum length, and cuts in the middle of each one. Raise the threshold (e.g. −30 dB) for noisy recordings.
Are the cuts sample-accurate?
Yes. Cuts are made on the decoded samples. With MP3 output each part gets a fresh encoder frame, so there are no clicks at the joins.
Can I download one part only?
Yes — every part has its own player and save link. The toolbar Download saves all of them in one ZIP.
Is there a limit on parts?
Silence mode stops at 200 parts. Equal parts go up to 20, and chunk length goes from 5 seconds to 10 minutes.
Which formats can I open and save?
Open anything your browser plays: MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG, Opus, FLAC and WebM audio. Save as MP3 (128, 192 or 320 kbps) or lossless 16-bit WAV — pick under Settings.
