ZIP Maker & Extractor
Zip files and folders, or open any ZIP to browse, preview and extract its contents — without installing anything.
How to Use ZIP Maker & Extractor in 3 Steps
Make a ZIP
Add files, whole folders (their structure is kept) or just drag things onto the pane. Name the archive, pick a compression level and press Build ZIP — the finished .zip downloads with the Download button.
Open a ZIP
Switch to Open / extract and choose a .zip. Every entry is listed with its size and date; click one to preview it — text, code, JSON, images, audio, video and PDFs show right in the page.
Extract
Download a single entry with its row button, or press Extract all. In Chrome and Edge you can pick a destination folder and the files are written straight into it with sub-folders intact; elsewhere each file downloads in turn.
ZIP Maker & Extractor — Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a size limit?
Everything is held in your browser’s memory, so a few hundred megabytes is comfortable on most devices; gigabyte archives can exhaust the tab. The tool warns at 500 MB.
Can it open password-protected ZIPs?
Not yet — encrypted entries are detected and reported, but decrypting ZipCrypto/AES archives in the browser is on the roadmap. 7z and RAR are different formats and are not supported.
Which compression level should I use?
Normal is the sweet spot. Store is instant and right for files that are already compressed (JPEG, MP4, other ZIPs). Best squeezes text and documents a little further at the cost of time.
Does it keep folder structure?
Yes. Adding a folder (or dropping one) preserves its sub-folders inside the ZIP, and extracting to a folder in Chrome/Edge recreates them.
Why does my browser ask about multiple downloads?
Outside Chrome/Edge, “Extract all” saves each file separately, so the browser asks once whether this page may download several files. Allow it and the files arrive one after another.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in JavaScript inside your browser tab. Your text and files are never sent to Toolity or anyone else.
